Rick Carelli During his racing career, Carelli has been Rookie of the Year on the Lakeside, Colorado, Speedway Late Model Series; the Englewood, Colorado, Speedway Late Model Series; on NASCAR's Southwest Tour; and, NASCAR's Winston West Series. He has been champion on the Mesa Marin, California Late Model track; the Lakeside Colorado, Speedway (the track's only dual division champion); the Copper Classic Late Model Series; NASCAR's Featherlite Southwest Tour Series; and, was not only champion but voted most popular driver, on the NASCAR Winston West Series. In 1994, Carelli won 50% of the races he competed in on five different race series! He has consistently finished in the top ten in the Craftsman Truck Series during years he has competed on the Series. Recently, Carelli served as Director of Motorsports for Re/Max International on the ARCA race series. Horner heads up RWC’s activities in LaVerne, CA. He has organized and made RWC presentations in the area and is in discussions with Las Vegas Speedway personnel about teaming up with RWC on projects as part of its community outreach. Scott owns and operates his own business, Heads Up Performance, a motorcycle performance engine building facility and parts distributorship. A former NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle (drag bike) competitor, he is also Founder/President of the American Motorsport SafetyAssociation, a program similar to RWC.
A co-founder of Racers Who Care, Pottenger is a retired 10-year Sports Car Club of America GT1 and National Hot Rod Association Super Gas veteran. Prior to joining Racers Who Care, he was very active with the Mean, Lean and Clean Youth Program on the NHRA Series for approximately four years. He is owner of Bishop & Buehl, where he builds and modifies racing engines for boats and cars.
RWC’s first Board member, Dr. Simpson is a Denver-based sports medicine specialist and Medical Director of Denver’s PSL Healthcare Center. He has been a consulting physician for St. Luke’s Hospital’s Alcohol and Rehab Unit since 1979 and of its Psychiatric and Human Behavioral Unit since 1985. Simpson is official physician for the Denver Nuggets and for the Colorado National and Rocky Mountain Speedways, as well as being a member of the World Council of Motor Sports Sciences, the Amateur Boxing Federation and the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association. Simpson serves on the Board of Directors of the Golden Gloves Boxing Charities of Colorado. Additionally he is medical Advisor to the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Racing Association. He is co-designer of the Safety Quest race car seat liner. Judy Strawn is President, and Founder of RWC. She comes to RWC with 34 years’ experience in public relations, special events planning/management, advertising, printing and publishing, writing and photography. She has worked as an independent contractor on motorsports marketing and public relations projects since 1982, supplementing her income as a temporary and permanent legal secretary in major international firms. Currently, while RWC is raising funds, she is a legal assistant at a prominent Beverly Hills Family Law Firm. She holds a B.A, Degree in Public Communication and has continued public relations and marketing studies at UCLA. Strawn has been awarded Who’s Who recognition in several areas, including Marquis Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, and in Cambridge, England's Dictionary of International Biography. She has operated RWC evenings and weekends since its 1993 inception. In addition to operational responsibilities, Strawn has set up and coordinated RWC presentations on the various race series and in Southern California, does the organizations’ desk top publishing, and was RWC’s Child’s Day Liaison with Senator Robert Graham’s office prior to his recent retirement. She now is in touch with another U.S. Senator regarding re-introducing the Child’s Day Bill to the Senate.
